MARINE BATTALION LANDING TEAM-1
The 1st Marine Battalion was initially called the 1st Provisional Battalion Its creation was in response to the growing secessionist problem in Mindanao. Its composite units were the separate Marine Companies, 4th and 5th. It was only on 21 April 1972 when the unit was formally activated as the 1st Marine Battalion. Its first Commanding Officer was LCDR RODOLFO G BIAZON The first deployment of the unit was in the Lanao Provinces and was tasked to prevent the fighting between the “ Barakudas ” and the Christian “ Ilagas ”. The Marine Battalion Landing Team 1 (MBLT-1) arrived in Cotabato City last month replacing the Marine Battalion Landing Team 7 (MBLT-7). The transition is a normal procedure in the Philippine Marines to regularly rotate the team within its area of responsibility. The transition was gradual, some of the marines arrived earlier than the others. MBLT-1 is headed by Lt. Col. Custodio Parcon.
MBLT-1 is located at Padlan Compound, Brgy. Rosary heights, Cotabato City.
